There's A Riot Goin' On by Sly & The Family Stone
Jul 22 2025

Not a fan. I think all of the songs just fall flat for me. The main reason is the production, especially the drums which sound so thin and empty on most songs. The bass tone also has so much high end so it takes up no space in the mix. I think the songs are missing a clear direction and instead they just drag on without much purpose. My favorite track would have to be Runnin away because I think it's fairly well written, the guitar tone is pretty good, and the horns sound nice.

This is a very good album. The songwriting is very creative and interesting and I like the mix of different styles used. The instrumentation is great, especially the piano. It's a fairly serious album and it includes lots of thoughtful lyrics. I think it could be improved if a few of the filler tracks were removed. Also wtf was he thinking with Jamaica jerk off. Overall, it's a really enjoyable album

Black Sabbath by Black Sabbath
Jul 24 2025

This is a super iconic album for obvious reasons so I need to give it respect. I'll be honest if I didn't know the backstory and this was just a random album I would be a little underwhelmed. All in all though this was an enjoyable listen. The drumming was very innovative and fun, and the bass+guitar were good. Weird that I'm getting this album right now RIP Ozzy

Different Class by Pulp
Jul 25 2025

This album is interesting and at times enjoyable. I appreciate the cheap and raw sound but it's not my favorite thing ever. The singer has some good moments but I think he suffers from trying to be sexy and mysterious. Some of the lyrics are also downright creepy and unsettling. I really like the first track mis-shapes, and a few others are good. Everything else is forgettable.

Graceland by Paul Simon
Jul 28 2025

This is an interesting album. The production is definitely unique, the songs kind of feel like a mix of folk, rock and funk. The guitar tone is very jangly and funky, the bass tone is super cool, but I don't like the drums because they sound very electronic and I feel like it doesn't match the vibe. I enjoy his vocal approach as it's very relaxed and the lyrics are interesting. Overall only a few songs really stick out to me and the rest is quite forgettable.

Home Is Where The Music Is by Hugh Masekela
Jul 29 2025

I'll be completely honest I just can't get into this. It's by no means a bad album it's just not my thing at all. I appreciate the work that went into this album and it has some great performances all throughout. My stand out track is blues for Huey because of the amazing drumming.

Jul 30 2025

I don't like this. It's pretty boring, there isn't much going on musically, and I don't find the melodies that catchy. It's not offensively bad so I won't give it one star but it's definitely not something I ever need to listen to again.

Fuzzy Logic by Super Furry Animals
Jul 31 2025

This album is alright. It's got some good qualities but overall I'm not a huge fan. Everything is pretty average especially the vocals. I think it's fairly unique so it gets points for that. I like the first track but after that nothing stood out to me.

Yank Crime by Drive Like Jehu
Aug 01 2025

This was unexpectedly a very solid album. I really like how dark and raw it feels. I also love the instrumentation, I can tell they are all very good musicians. The songs are highly creative and original as well. The album cover also somehow perfectly portrays how the album sounds which I love.
