Far too much wah guitar and pitch bending for my taste, it quickly becomes monotonous. How many guitar solos do you want on an album? All of them, apparently. I can see how it might appeal to some, but to me it just feels self-indulgent. I’m also not a fan of the overall mix; the drum sound, particularly that hollow snare, really doesn’t do it any favours. Eddie Vedder’s vocal style, like he gargles a bag of jagged stones every morning, only adds to the fatigue. It all blurs into one long track stretched over 53 minutes. I won’t be revisiting this. I slogged through it once and that was enough.
