I think this is what my dad was talking about when he said that he hated jazz. I’m listening 55 years after it came out, and it feels to me like rachmaninoff‘s concerto 2. sometimes overwhelming, sometimes quiet, sometimes it draws me in and others it pushes me away. i’ve never listened to this much trumpet. i can see how it impacted modern music. i don’t know if i would listen to this again. i do like spanish key though.
