1001 Albums Summary

interesting. i’ve never heard any of the songs. the first one was unintelligible for me but i liked it the most. felt like nothing i’d really heard from popular music.

i’ve only heard steely dan’s name in memes. first song was fun, feels like a lot of older songs i’ve heard. second song is also pleasant. sounds to me like this guy is a hippie. really thought this was going to be more rock. barrytown sounds like sugar sugar.

I think this is what my dad was talking about when he said that he hated jazz. I’m listening 55 years after it came out, and it feels to me like rachmaninoff‘s concerto 2. sometimes overwhelming, sometimes quiet, sometimes it draws me in and others it pushes me away. i’ve never listened to this much trumpet. i can see how it impacted modern music. i don’t know if i would listen to this again. i do like spanish key though.
