Rid Of Me by PJ Harvey
Sep 04 2025

Art is subjective, yes, and my subjective experience of this album was one of great discomfort and distaste. The instrumental structure of the songs are fine, maybe even good sometimes, but this is completely overshadowed by the unbearably whiny and simply terrible vocal performance. Most songs lack a melody entirely, and the artist is nearly impossible to understand. I couldn't sit through a single song in its entirety. I have a hard time believing that abstract projects have any real influence on the music industry aside from showing future artists what not to do.

A good rock album. Not much else to say- it's not really up my alley, and I found it a bit boring.

Tis simply a vibe.

Alien Lanes by Guided By Voices

This album started out alright- solidly in 3 star territory- but as it went on...and on...and on...I got so sick of it. I was happy to see a departure from the extremely long noise tracks that make up 90% of my experience on this generator thus far, but alas this also ended up being not much more than noise to my ears. I cannot give it 1 star as I still enjoyed a couple tracks, and overall the vibe is good. But as an album experience, it's not so hot. Best consumed in small doses, for sure. Side note- can I expect any albums with any sort of structure and (*gasp*) predictability? If not, this is a waste of time. I did not sign up for this album generator to listen to dozens of hours of pretentious noise. Some of it is good, but this is hardly an accurate representation of the most influential music of all time. Predictability and structure does not equal a lesser form of art, and some of the reviews seem to imply that this is indeed the case.

It's alright. Favourite track: Mother's Daughter

To Pimp A Butterfly by Kendrick Lamar

I definitely understand the hype. I can't give this 5 stars since this isn't entirely up my alley, and I can't see myself listening to it for pleasure. But it's a great record, no doubt. 4.5/5 Favourite track: Wesley's Theory
