Really groovy and full of plenty of classic psychedelic rock and progressive rock bonafides and licks. Feels very in line with Led Zeppelin and other contemporary bands, first half of the album was stronger, the middle has some interesting tracks but they kinda blended together on first listen, plenty of fuzz and soulful melodies to boot as well, as my first ever Spirit album (and first album as part of this 1001 albums journey) this was a solid listen and definitely has me more interested in listening to Spirt and other similar bands from the late 60s and 70s whose musical influences are clear in some of the major bands of the time. Highlight tracks: Prelude - Nothin' to Hide, Nature's Way, Space Child, Life Has Just Begun, Morning Will Come

Bossanova by Pixies

Feels very much like the Dead Kennedy's decided to just hang on the beach and become emo, dark yet relentlessly driving sound, a seamless mix of surf rock grooves and basslines with more pop punk and alternative sounds and bonafides. As a few other comments on this album have mentioned, the individual tracks don't seem to pop too much but taken together as a record this establishes a very distinct sound and feeling that I don't think fully comes through on any one track. Feels like the sort of music that would be perfect in a skating game as well. Rock on!

Parsley, Sage, Rosemary And Thyme by Simon & Garfunkel

One of Simon and Garfunkels' best! I feel like David Byrne would characterize the production on this record as "tight", while each of the tracks are quite short, they're all excellently arranged and the harmonies of Simon and Garfunkel here are truly wonderful, just an overall pleasant and great listen!

Getz/Gilberto by Stan Getz

What an incredible album, gotta get this on vinyl! Not my usual choice of music but having this on while working or just hanging and reading with a cup of coffee sounds delightful. Honestly this is what I want every coffee shop to sound like when I walk in, I can see why this is regarded so highly!

Red Headed Stranger by Willie Nelson

Not an album I would normally listen to but a lovely concept album and a great listen!

Lust For Life by Iggy Pop

1. Guitar riff is what is used for "Are you gonna be my girl", I finally get where this comes from! Great bop overall 2. Feels very proto punk indeed, can see influence on artists such as The Strokes 3. Pulsating, very catchy 4. Classic, definitely more pop sensibility, I can see why this was the big single/hit 5. Very epic/orchestral feeling with a real raw proto punk vibe, hell yeah! Similar/inspiration for Radio Gaga? 6. Again catchy, similar to other tracks on the album but still a good listen 7. Funky, a bit more muted than other tracks, more bluesy (I guess this should have been obvious by the title being Turn Blue!) 8. Not too remarkable but fits the tone and style of the rest of the album 9. More of a bop, good closer for the album.
