Some pretty good bangers! Not as much to my taste as Achtung, but some good diamonds in the rough here: "Sunday Bloody Sunday" "Two Hearts Beat as One" "New Years Day" "40" Favorite lyric: "I waited patiently for the Lord/He inclined and heard my cry/He lift me up out of the pit/Out of the miry clay/ I will sing, sing a new song/I will sing, sing a new song/ How long to sing this song?/How long must we sing this song? Overall - kinda meh! Neil Young's voice is lovely but not to my taste, and most of these songs just kinda washed over me without leaving much of an impresssion. Best songs: "Southern Man" "Birds" Best Lyric: "Tomorrow, see the things that never come today"

Shockingly good. Perhaps their best? Almost every song a banger, but my favorites: "One" "Love is Blindness" "Mysterious Ways" "Until the End of the World" "So Cruel" ' Favorite Lyric: If you wanna Kiss the Sky, Better Learn How to Kneel (On your Knees Boy)

This is a strange one. I love the synthy background tracks a lot but most of the songs on this album didn't jump out at me. I don't really like Numan's voice. But I adore those synth tracks. Favorite lyrics: "i turned off the pain/like I turned off you all/now there's only me"

I was surprised by how much I liked several songs on this. It's an incredibly genre-twisting album -- from blues to rock to gentle singer-songwriter and back again. Buckley's voice is fantastic, and I say that as someone who doesn't even like falsetto voices most of the time. Even though this has such a range, it's surprising how many of the songs I liked. Favorite Songs: Grace Lover, You Should've Come Over Dream Brother Favorite lyric: This is our last goodbye/I hate to feel the love between us die/But it's over/Just hear this and then i'll go/You gave me more to live for/More than you'll ever know"

This is pretentious folk rock bullshit but its exactly my type of pretentious folk rock bullshit. You put a glockenspiel in your band, I give it no less than a 4. That's the rules. I LOVED this. Favorite songs: Once I had a Light The Cuckoo House Carpenter Favorite Lyric: "I wish I were a scholar and could handle the pen/I'd write to my lover and to all roving men/I would tell them of the grief and woe that attend all their lies/I would wish them have pity on the flower when it dies"

ROUGH listen. I'm old enough to remember when Eminem first got famous, and its clear he's a talented rapper. But so many of the lyrics here have aged HORRIBLY -- the casual homophobia, the extremely violent lyrics toward women. It was one thing in the nineties, but it feels entirely worse now. This was a struggle to listen to. Best song on the album: My Name is (it's catchy, at least) Favorite lyrics: Nothing grabbed me off this one.
