1001 Albums Summary

Walk on by feels like a template for Daptone Records’ formula. It’s also like 10 min long?? I loved the sound of this and if I still smoked weed I think I’d like it even more. Gets a bit long for me midway through but it’s about the purest version of this type of soul music I can imagine

I mean an absolute classic. I probably return to this one more often than the Big Pink. Still hard to believe that Robbie Robertson wrote all of these songs. I think he’s a liar! I remember buying this on vinyl as a teen and being surprised how good the songs were without even considering the biggest hits on it.

Man I love James Williamson‘s guitar work and songwriting on this. I haven’t listened to it in a while, it’s more of an elevated garage rock sound than I remembered. I thought it would be more glam

Incredible history, just not for me I don’t think

I’ve always found the title track a bit boring? It’s a bit gospel and I appreciate it, but it doesn’t stand up to some other tracks on this monster of an album IMO

First time listen! I do know the first song for sure.
