1001 Albums Summary

This album feels like all REM albums to me, his voice gets old, the music is somewhat nouveau for the time, but doesn't do much to move me.

Esoteric, interesting modal movement within the instrumentation. I'm not a fan of overtly repetitive music, but it's hard to know if it's poignant without understanding the language. Overall, it's good vibes, but not my typical cup of tea.

TBH, I could put this whole album on and play it top to bottom on my drumset. It's a great vibe, I love Chad Smith's drumming style. This skews my love for the album, but it's definitely one of their better ones. I can understand why many can't get behind them, Kiedis' vocals are a "brand", but not a popular one. But for me, this one is solid.

Very folksy. I think if I were in the right headspace (high) I'd probably like this more than I did listening to it at work. Have heard plenty of the songs before, but was nice to hear them in context.

Sounds like a shitty Randy Newman. Like he it a brake drum with a stick in the 80's and said, "I'm gonna make an album out of that". I'm sure at the time, it was an avant garde album that many hipsters couldn't espouse greatly enough, it's not one that jives with my tenderest complexities in any way that makes me want to listen to it again... Please some one, help me make it make sense....

Solid album, carries it's weight even after all these years.
