Heaux Tales by Jazmine Sullivan
Sep 22 2025

3.4/5 I might be rating this a little unfairly, I'm just personally not too into this sound and can't relate to the theming. A lot of the insturmentals end up feeling pretty similar and there's not much vocally or lyrically that gave these songs a ton of staying power. That's not to say this is poorly made, the vocals are great and the mix, production, and overall sound is very clear. It just doesn't really leave an impact on me, some of the harmonies were nice though.

My Aim Is True by Elvis Costello

4/5 I actually liked this a lot more than I was expecting. It's a pretty simple sound and all 12 songs are a solid execution of that style. It could honestly be a little higher but the production just gave me a headache, it felt really tight and at times tinny/screechy. Other than that, the insturmentals and atmosphere is fun and the songs are generally well written. I had fun with it.

3.9/5 A really nice blend of Physch Rock and Funk, with an amazing opening track. The songs can kind of blend together and feel a little samey though.

Either Or by Elliott Smith
Sep 26 2025

Obviously a classic. Really solid guitar playing and lyricism, it's definitely a landmark in the genre. I was pretty surprised by how heavily tracks like Cupid's Trick and Pictures Of Me lean into a more garage rock sound, but it was a nice change of pace. There's also tracks like Speed Trials and Ballad Of Big Nothing have some really cool insturmentals and are definitely standouts performance wise. Great album, definitely deserves the praise it gets.
