Interesting album. Love the clash-iness however given the experimental nature of this, something felt lacking and could have been pushed a bit further. Despite the obvious racket, it still felt a little too tied together and pretty and I wanted more mess. Waited for The Song to make an appearance but it never did. Fave track - there's always room on the broom.

Felt like I was listening to the songs waiting for the link between them and trying to carve out some relation or theme between the tracks (of which I eventually found none). The songs seemed to be scattered memories/stories but somehow this didn't bother me as the instruments without the lyrics were fun on every single song. The first song was pretty unique and it would liked to have revisited that theme later in the album to gain some context for the first song. Ended on a high with the energy of the last few songs which excused the confusion of the first half. The name of the album paired with the seemingly random stories felt like something which came from the mind of an older man sitting on a rocking chair on his front porch commentating on his own life whilst watching the world and drawing parallels from watching his neighbours go by. Favourite song overall: Please Be With Me Favourite fun song: Steady Rolling Man Favourite moment: A pause and then totally unexpected, unlinked and unnecessary symbols and drums at the end of Motherless Children Overall: 4/5. Would have given it a 3 but second half changed my mind.
