The Predator
Ice Cube
Production is lo-fi but lush.
Great horn samples throughout.
Melancholic synths create an interesting contrasting background to the otherwise grateful and positive "It Was a Good Day" and sound like they inspired a lot of Kendrick's tracks, like Bitch Don't Kill My Vibe.
Lots of commentary about police brutality.
"I know it sounds strange but could you stop thinkin with your dick for a change?"
Plenty of casual misogyny / objectification of women.

Vol. 4
Black Sabbath
Love a 7-minute opener.
Great heavy fuzzy guitars.
Acoustic instrumental "Laguna Sunrise" is a lovely change of pace.

Cherub rock best album opener ever?
Guitars are huge and fuzzy but also weirdly contained and "neat" - it's not muddy at all.
Billy Corgan vocals are one-of-a-kind and obviously iconic.
Lead guitar often does a fun call-and-response or pairing with the vocals.
Bells and strings in "Disarm"!
Insane production quality.

A Love Supreme
John Coltrane
Opening still gives me chills.
What a journey. I need to process. This was the first time I was still really paying attention during "Psalm" - what a beautiful piece of music. Feels presumptuous to even try to use my clumsy words to describe this masterpiece.

"So I turned myself to face me
But I've never caught a glimpse..."
Love how piano-forward this album is.
