This album came out the year after I was born (2002). It felt like a portal. As if I was some exploding star, burning bright in secret and but it wasn’t one anymore? Leaving a trace everywhere. The impact clearly there. A good example would be, when I was in middle school, often everyone would leave a scribble of “so and so was here”. Proof we existed. We weren’t allowed to in the first place really. Yet those messages would be left in the most mundane locations. In bathroom stalls, in city walls, underneath school desks, inside books, over public benches. It was a quiet act of rebellion with a sneaky smug look. A laugh at how silly it all can be. How we restrict ourselves or set each other free. This album is a commentary on this feeling. Perfect for when you’re on a self discovering journey or just in need of going off the rails. It’s never too late to just be messy and do it just because.
