1001 Albums Summary

Song notes: Gigantic - I love Kim Deal's voice! I really like this song, it instantly perked me back up. River Euphrates has great energy. Where is my Mind was one of my favourite songs as a teen and I'm just as excited to hear it now as I did then. Vamos is an entire vibe, I could live in this song. Overall I feel like I'm in the room with them, it's such a raw and unfiltered album. They are thrashing and jamming and yelling and I'm just hiding there, along for the ride.

I saw Radiohead for the first and only time after the release of this album and after revisiting it today it's been rappelling through my brain. It's such an important shift for them and for music at the time. The 2000s separating from the 90s

Having seen Wilco in concert, and enjoying so much of their work, I feel like if I had rated them 20 years ago I would've given them 5 stars. I still really enjoy this album but it does not hold my attention in the same way, although it is still powerful and resonant and has my feet tapping.

Hippy dippy dad rock with one or two hits but overall it's just not that cool.

There's just something about this era that is so well defined by this album. There's a frenetic energy and a mild melancholy that elevates this album and somehow makes it timeless. Still slaps
