1001 Albums Summary

Not as good as their debut…or Soft Parade….or in fact Strange Days…but indeed an excellent Doors album.

Watched a fascinating and tragic rockumentary on these guys. They are from my preferred musical era - yet somehow had missed them. I had high hopes. Turns out, nothing particularly challenging or special about this album….which ultimately means all the inter-band tension and drug abuse was a complete, self-absorbed waste.

Exceptional album. Was my intro to Bowie 35 years ago and occupies a special soft spot. It’s articulate, exploratory and beautiful.

Top notch from start to finish.

Pop Tiger Woods on your 360, stick on Pretzel Logic. A partnership like gin and tonic or Hobbs and Shaw. Bliss.

I really prefer “Leisure” and “Modern Life…”. Parklife is a very good album overall, but alas, it hit the mainstream at the time - suddenly everyone was a Blur fan - unless they were an Oasis fan - and if you can stomach the chavs’ holiday favourite, Girls & Boys and Phil Daniels cheekily monologuing about pigeons having sex in Parklife…there’s a lot to like here.

Released when I was 17 and is loaded with nostalgia. Supergrass never got drawn into the mega mainstream and are often forgotten when people talk about Britpop of the ‘90s. They blend cheeky pop with fast punk rock and made a number of great albums. Underrated. Saw them live for the 30th anniversary earlier this year. It was album perfect.
