Fun first album, loved listening to moving in stereo.
Had some good songs, not totally in love with it though, it mostly felt very generic to me.
Refreshing rap style and lyrics that feel a little differentiated than just gangster rap (im rich, I've got a big d*ck, I do drugs, etc.) At the very least I can say that I've never heard anything by common before this and am glad to have the exposure.
I was never really a fan of the Beatles but there were songs here and there that I did like a lot (across the universe/nowhere man/baby you're a rich man) but im even less of a fan of their very early work which was stiflingly mainstream and even disingenuous to their actual creative talent and genius. I'm not going to give this a 1 star out of respect, but I will never listen to this album of my own accord.
I'm not really a punk fan, although they might be fun to see live because they are high energy. I can imagine fans liked the clash not just because they liked the songs, but that it was a statement and attitude about life. Maybe punk exists to remind us to shake up sh*t in our lives no matter occassion, it might make something worthy to remember.
Very soulful and at times painful subject matter beautifully composed and classic for its era. Fast car was an anchor for me after a bad break up and it was very pleasing to hear it and many other good tracks in this album. I don't think many people bump her tracks nowadays, but its a good drive down memory lane that I very much enjoyed.
I feel like part of the aesthetic of this album is that the music sounds crappy and janky and also slightly inebriated. If that appeals to you im sure this would be a great listen, I was not a fan.
