Melodrama by Lorde
Jan 10 2026

5 stars, no notes. I know I’m prone to hyperbole but this album is perfect and completely whole, in both thesis and praxis. Supercut might be the greatest song ever written.

Nilsson Schmilsson by Harry Nilsson
Feb 19 2026

i didn’t listen to this but JUMP INTO THE FIRE is a very sexy song

69 Love Songs by The Magnetic Fields
Mar 30 2026

that’s too many songs to be fair i’ve always sort of actively disliked the book of love so this didn’t bode well for me

Brothers by The Black Keys
Mar 31 2026

now THIS is an album i can get behind

Beyond Skin by Nitin Sawhney
Apr 22 2026

foxtel guide ass music as much as i do occasionally love this genre (lofi, d&b) and find it useful for flights and rainy days, my immediate gut reaction was that nothing from it could ever be deserving of any accolades, so might need to examine that but i probably won't to be fair! the only reason i tuned in today is cause i knew i could get through it in a work day (easy listening!)

After The Gold Rush by Neil Young
May 05 2026

of course i love it! sits at a very solid 3 for me, but southern man alone adds a whole star. because it's a great song, but also because without it we'd never get sweet home alabama.

Sticky Fingers by The Rolling Stones
May 08 2026

if you see me giving a 60s/70s english rock album below 3 stars, that's not me occassionally blindingly gorgeous - the organs in i got the blues, moonlight mile's strings, the entirety of wild horses

The College Dropout by Kanye West
May 09 2026

i don't know how to talk intelligently about music, i love this so much - probably my favourite kanye album as a whole piece, even though the liked songs ratio is lower than others. he was so HUNGRY and CONFIDENT - it's INTOXICATING to listen to more skits in albums!

White Blood Cells by The White Stripes
May 11 2026

i like a lot of these but don't love them (besides we're going to be friends, my beloved) kind of crazy strong opening and closing tracks, so maybe that's all that matters

The Velvet Underground by The Velvet Underground
May 12 2026

have always felt like, on paper, i should love TVU, but i so rarely find myself returning to them. this has not changed my stance - i would give 2.5 if i could. that being said, i want lou reed (and many of his following imitators) to **** **** ****** ** ** and ********** ******** my *****.

Younger Than Yesterday by The Byrds
May 14 2026

need to try this in a car driving along the coast to optimise the experience i heard a lot of other songs in this album which, when i googled them, some came before and some after. so maybe this is more just like a capsule of the time period and genre. it's a good one, i'll give it that. i liked the aliens A LOT. i need to really figure out what stars mean to me since this site won't let me give my favourite 2.5, but CTA 102 alone did save this one.

Coat Of Many Colors by Dolly Parton
May 15 2026

sorry. literally was surprised when i realised it was over because it had become such background noise to me. did make me think about country sort of being one of the peak story-telling genres though

Remain In Light by Talking Heads
May 19 2026

just so, so incredibly interesting i grew up with this album so hard not to be overly fond born under punches through to houses in motion is a near perfect run

The Blueprint by JAY Z
May 20 2026

added a couple of tracks to my rotation 👍🏻

A Love Supreme by John Coltrane
May 22 2026

yep, fab, perfect had listened to Part I a lot while reading THE LONG GOODBYE, so (though a bit anachronistic) was really taken back to my good friend marlowe and los angeles....sigh....

Africa Brasil by Jorge Ben Jor
May 27 2026

taj mahal was a huge standout for more excellent 70s brazilian music, listen to the I'M STILL HERE (2024) soundtrack

American Pie by Don McLean
Jun 01 2026

i actually did listen to this but it made zero impact on me

Rumours by Fleetwood Mac
Jun 06 2026

this is a fine enough album but has never really been my thing. the chain is good but don't stop is so bad that it cancels out.

Tom Tom Club by Tom Tom Club
Jun 10 2026

genius of love origin story! i loved this, great jams

Sound of Silver by LCD Soundsystem
Jul 08 2026

making my triumphant return because arkady told me about today's album. an all-timer, easily 5 stars. lcd sound system is very high school to me, but in all the best ways. this album embodies the total non-chalant try-hard cool of teenagerdom. i was born at exactly the right time to feel this way. like nothing i had ever heard before, but also a perfect epitome of electronic indie of the late 2000s/early 2010s, with that kind of 80s new wave flair. someone great being used in gossip girl 1x12, thank you for introducing me to this album! (wrote this whole review forgetting about the literal lyrics of sound of silver, so well done on that i guess)

Jul 14 2026

i listen to ALL OF THE LIGHTS a lot, but it should be mandated that it always be played with the INTERLUDE beforehand cause it elevates it like crazy and i had let myself forget that. arkady, i also think about that english class every time i listen to RUNAWAY. BLAME GAME might be one of my favourite kanye songs of all time (what can i say, i love a skit) this album IS the bling ring to me i was prepared to give this a 4 based on my vibes of this album but realistically it's Liked Songs ratio is higher than some of my "favourite" kanye albums, so we have to be truthful with ourselves
