I'd Do it again. Not the whole album maintains that quality. Only a fool would say that.

Production. The sadder songs.

Steve Albini's production. That album cover. Pretty much perfect. Consistent quality. Riddled with sickness and disease imagery (decay). Invokes discomfort and vulnerability. This album is dedicated to dead relatives. They are safe, warm and full of happy smiles. - Cobain

Modern rock masterpiece. Has the soul of 20th century blues but with a screaming guitar and the drums bashed in incredible force. Old sexism, straight from the bluesmen's book. Indomitable women paired with angry young men, the underdogs, disillusioned and possibly withdrawn (in reality might be control freaks) whose romantic flings are passive aggressive power struggles. Women are a constant point of interest as puzzles to be resolved or even admired for their chaos.

Impeccable vibe: a nice urban night club feel that distracts you from what trends have just come and gone, differentiates it from the horde of british bands in the 2000s. Little care is given to masking their inspirations, great example of taking a trend and effortlessly rolling with it, all while having a ball. Less of an albums band, listening in an order, all the songs in an album don't add up to much more than another song, but each song on it's own is a three minute punch, dancable, catchy and yet with a satisfying raw edge. Most songs can be listened on repeat. Somewhere between 7 and 8
