1001 Albums Summary

This album is fantastic! Most tracks are extraordinarily written, with vivid imagery. Didn’t love all of it, but it greatly impresses me how much musical creativity is fit into such a brief album. This album is concise, heartfelt, and clearly comes from a place of deep desire to create great art.

Not always amazing, but features enough beautiful vocal performances and gorgeous production to make the whole thing engaging. Not as consistent as Funeral, I’d say, but I do think it has higher highs.

Unlike anything they’ve done before, and all the better for it. Incredible vocal performances and some genuinely moving moments are the highlights for me. Not my favorite Beatles album by a long shot, but it’s still pretty great.

I didn’t fall in love with this one as quickly as Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme, but I still enjoyed it. Bookends definitely has a clearer and well-defined narrative throughout, which I can appreciate. When I listen to this again, I think I will enjoy it a lot more as I dive deeper into its themes.

Not really my thing, but still enjoyable (mostly). The instrumentals are absolutely gorgeous and incredible intimate throughout, whether or not they are accompanied by vocals. I think I would’ve loved this a lot more if the songs were shorter, or if they felt less repetitive. After a while, they all blended into one for me. While that may be amazing for some, I found it to be a bit boring occasionally.

Overall, didn’t love it. My Curse is pretty good in my opinion, but the rest wasn’t particularly engaging for me. As someone who normally digs indie rock, this was a bit of a letdown.

Outstanding vocals, and outstanding instrumental progression (especially in Eli’s Comin’). Really, I just think some songs go on for too long. Other than that, this album is very solid.

Really, really awesome. It’s great to listen to this album start to finish, as most songs are quite long.

Not my thing at all. There are some decent melodies here and there, but really every song felt empty for me; the tracks are definitely not enough to entertain me for the album’s 71-minute runtime. Again, it’s really just not my thing.
