Cafe jazz. I really want espresso and the sun. “Social Club” is really telling its music to be enjoyed in a group of people. Very sociable background music for meetings .
Energetic and artsy. What a great album to dance to. They do have the try-hardness of an art school band but unlike my friend ruaridhs band they actually pull it off. Imagining playing the barras and saying “this next songs called The Dark of the Matinee” and people actually cheer. That’s how cool this band is. I think it’s probably my favourite of the British garage rock stuff.
Very nostalgic and romantic. I’d deliberately avoided Sinatra because I’d written him off as music of the time with no substances. Like some sort of 90s Eurostar but in the 50s. I was wrong. I can’t help but dance.
