normally not my style, but was pulled back to 2018 me when I was very much into the strokes for the summer. just overall good and great listen
Definitely not my typical music genre haha. Did love the instrumentals (gr8 guitar and drums!!), wasn’t a fan of the vocals (sorry ozzy osbourne, didn’t even know he was in this band)… overall not a bad album at all, just not for me
-favourite track: RAT SALAD
honestly I have nothing much to say. liked hearing this album for the first time and the addition of tuba and sax was also nice. good vocals that I enjoyed listening to.
-favourite track: WALK ON THE WILD SIDE
enjoyed this album even tho it’s not my style. obviously amazing guitar playing which I have never heard before.
-favourite tracks: HEY HOE and LOVE OR CONFUSION
the start and end of this album is so fun, like a real show. the animals in good morning good morning!! + love the song titles and has an incredible album cover
-favourite tracks: WHEN I’M SIXTY FOUR and SHE’S LEAVING HOME and A DAY IN THE LIFE
I thought this album was great! was a little shocked when I saw the low ratings on here. gotta say I don’t know much about rock as a genre since I don’t listen to it so I couldn’t possibly know “the standard”.
the vocal harmonies and instrumentals were, in my opinion, surprising and very well executed (on tracks like victim of love and the strings in the wasted time reprise).
I would definitely listen to this album again!
-favourite tracks: HOTEL CALIFORNIA and NEW KID IN TOWN
this album has the vibes of a soundtrack for a show or movie. I love a good soundtrack so was really into it. the only thing I didn’t like was Cave’s voice… which bring this down a notch. the only track where his voice did something for me was hollywood. it’s a good body of work and I would listen to some songs again.
-favourite tracks: SUN FOREST and HOLLYWOOD
for a debut album this is a solid body of work. I don’t have much to say. liked the acapella track on it but there’s not many songs I would listen to again I think. and in saying that I might be missing the point of this album cuz I’m seeing lots of high reviews on it.
-favourite tracks: WINTER and ME AND A GUN
have never listened to the band but I’m working my way through 1001 albums you must hear before you die and when I got this album I thought oooh THE rolling stones. I had high expectations and I can’t say I was disappointed but I also wasn’t blown away. when I saw it was over an hour long I was kinda taken aback since this is just not my type of genre but it didn’t feel that long, that was nice.
the album felt like a mix of some different things which might’ve helped the listening experience for me. can’t rate if too low, not amazing, quite enjoyable, not bad…
-favourite tracks: ROCKS OFF and SWEET VIRGINIA and SHINE A LIGHT
this is a good album. some songs weren’t for me but most songs I did enjoy. it contains nice lyrics and pretty instrumentals. would play certain songs again, just not the album as a whole.
-favourite tracks: LEOPARD AND LAMB and FIREFLIES and WHAT TIME?
wanna preface this by saying that I don’t like taylor swift at all.
still went into it with an open mindset but I wasn’t proven wrong… while there were a couple songs I though were pretty okay, the overall project was below my standard (which rlly isn’t high). I don’t like her voice and singing style and found the lyrics to be too literal. the production was the best part of this album, with closure being super interesting and other tracks having nice guitar + harmonies. everyone seems to love her but I still haven’t found out why after listening to this full-length album.
-favourite tracks: ‘TIS THE DAMN SEASON and IVY and CONEY ISLAND
fantastic!! love that this was a live album. not always a fan of that but it worked very well here. this is the first or second rock album I’ve enjoyed beginning to end! will definitely be listening to this again.
-favourite tracks: EMERALD and STILL IN LOVE WITH YOU
can’t say anything bad about this album. marvin gaye has such a nice voice and knows how to use it beautifully. this is my kinda music, the kind that brings me a sense of peace. in my opinion everything on this album was executed perfectly.
-favourite tracks: IF I SHOULD DIE TONIGHT and DISTANT LOVER and JUST TO KEEP YOU SATISFIED
good album. didn’t feel like an hour long, the album went by quite fast & I liked the variation with the features of different artists.
-favourite tracks: LATIN SIMONE (QUE PASA CONTIGO) and STARSHINE
this album isn’t bad but for me just didn’t have any standouts. i tried to actively listen to it but ended up just having it in the background while I did other stuff. no song really made me sit up and get back into it. like I said not bad tho…
-favourite track: YOU WILL YOU WON’T
listened to it while out on a run. it was alright, not my favourite style and voice but didn’t hate it. nothing else to say I think…
-favourite tracks: THE ANCHOR SONG and LIKE SOMEONE IN LOVE
really liked this album! dusty’s voice is very nice to listen to and the songs are very pretty too. there are some I didn’t like as much but mostly these are songs I would listen to again.
-favourite tracks: THE WINDMILLS OF YOUR MIND and I DON’T WANT TO HEAR IT ANYMORE - MONO VERSION
i didn’t like this album and even tho it’s only 30 minutes long i was waiting for it to be over kinda.
the frequent screaming wasn’t something i enjoyed and the fast tempo with the instruments is a bit too intense for me. also thought all the songs kinda blended into one. wasn’t the worst 30 minutes of music but definitely wasn’t the best
-favourite track: DO YOU LOVE ME
