A Love Supreme
by John Coltrane
As someone who grew up playing jazz, I was introduced to this album early on, as it played such a pivotal role in shaping jazz and its legacy in America. Coltrane’s saxophone feels like a direct extension of his voice; his ability to improvise both beautifully lyrical melodies and intensely avant-garde, rhythmically driven ideas is truly extraordinary. I hadn’t listened to this album in a long time, so returning to it was a deeply welcome and rewarding experience.
