1001 Albums Summary

The band is not a style/genre I am typically drawn to (classic rock), so it was fun to branch out with this one. The bass really stands out to me. Also I dig the lyrics!! My favorite song was “Foreplay/Long Time” and I really connected lyrically to “Peace of Mind”.

“America” always makes me bawl—it’s something about the melody and the vulnerable lyrics. I first heard the song when Josh Groban covered it. The rest of the album falls a bit flat in comparison for me. I did enjoy “Old Friends” and “A Hazy Shade of Winter”. I don’t think it’s an album I would return to, but I am glad I listened all the way through.

I love this album! “And I Love Her” is my favorite song. I adore this sweet early era of the Beatles. These songs make me want to dance! 🕺 The melody and harmonies on “Things We Said Today” are haunting. “You Can’t Do That” is not my fav—it does not age well. I love the Spanish guitar they use on this album!!!

This album is a vibe! I love her voice and the mix of electronic music and jazz.

This album is a repeater. Enough said.

I love that this was recorded live and you can hear the audience! The musicianship is next level!!

The instrumentation was really entertaining/unique and captured my attention! I really enjoyed this album and had never heard of the band before.

I loved this! I have never heard this style of “desert blues”! This makes me want to do research on Mali!

This album isn’t really my vibe but I appreciate the stellar story telling. “Small Blue Thing” was my favorite song.

I know these guys are huge but I personally am not obsessed. I didn’t add a single song to my liked playlist.
