Vol. 4 by Black Sabbath
Jan 20 2026

Taken back by how psychedelic it seemed at first, then by how moody and heavy it got to be. The dimension created through vocal echo/reverb/whatever made it feel huge at times. Everyone on this is superlative at one time or another. God I miss Ozzy. Not what I’m normally looking for from Sabbath when I go to pull a record or song, but I get why it’s on here. Incredible that “Changes” only happened because they found a piano and Iommi sat down and learned to play it. So much of the production is a culmination of luck and immense talent…and drugs.

Who's Next by The Who
Jan 22 2026

I hate The Who. I cannot divorce their songs from a life of hearing them in advertisements (“best I’ve ever had” used to scream over a truck commercial in my youth) or how they were played to death on the classic rock station. When this initially came up, I was having a lousy day and trying to get through this at the time made it worse. Not for me.
