There’s a clear reason why she’s called the queen of soul. Just her voice alone carries the absolute passion that these songs tackle topically. Her wants and needs are clearly delivered vocally with freedom but still with accuracy. The production only adds to that with riffing instruments during these moments only emphasizing the pure heart and soul in every song. Now sometimes this freedom and structureless of the songs come at a downside, as they become slightly forgettable, but luckily the band keeps up the groove. Favorite song: Drown In My Own Tears

This album is pure poetry. It’s so minimalistic yet so powerful, sticking to the tried and true methods of impactful music through chords and simple orchestration. It feels very personal, yet has such strong emotion being invoked. On the flip side, this minimalism prevents some songs from having proper progression, leaving it like an incomplete thought. Favorite song: River Man

This album threw me for a loop. It starts off pretty groovy, reminds me of those surrealistic seafood restaurants you’d find during the summer with the fake fish on the wall and a lifesaver with brown walls. very summer like haha! I loved the guitar, vocal delivery was unique, but as it went on that uniqueness became unconventional. there were some parts that were too out there that i couldn’t wrap my head around it. not that it wasn’t necessarily bad but just unconventional. i do have a strong belief it’ll grow on me, but until then i’m 50/50 on this album. loving the topics addressed on the album too though! The production is very very addicting, just needs work on making sure the vocals match that funky groove. Favorite song: No compassion

The Clash is a very fitting name, this album provided just that. with outrageous melodies and even more with the vocal delivery, this album gives a blueprint on how to be out of control and tamed at the same time. Sometimes it does get to an extent with the crazy delivery with the accent just comes off as brash and too in-your-face. That included with the production getting repetitive. Favorite song: What’s my name

This is versatility at its finest. OutKast shows that you can tell a story while being vulnerable, yet cool and confident. With a wide range of different genre's at that, it's such a classic, timeless album that is the blueprint for lots to come. Sometimes production does get a little wonky, but can be overlooked. 9/10 Favorite song: Prototype
