1001 Albums Summary

What an album to start on! I’m a sucker for live albums and this might just be the best one I’ve heard. Cash is funny as hell, the crowd is lively, a guard gets booed! I haven’t listened to much Johnny Cash before this and I feel like I’ve been missing out. The music is so energetic, I can’t get enough of those drums and oo the guitar is to die for. I love this album so much.

I’ve listened to a few art rock albums from this period and this one was by far the worst. Whoever put this on the list was right. Everyone needs to hear how Lou Reed ruined an otherwise alright album. The first few tracks were either pretty good or forgettable. Then, Run Run Run came on and Lou Reed showed his fraudulent hand. That guitar solo made me mad and physically cringe. Then I started listening to what Reed was saying. His lyrics are definitely creative but the content is so disgusting and aggravating. There She Goes Again made me want to yell. I can’t believe this is a top album for people. Maybe they ignore the bulk of the tracks.

What an amazing album. Byrne is such a weirdo! I love his lyricism. Seen and Not Seen was so real. I feel like this is a guy who really gets it. And the music ! Oh my ! The music is phenomenal. This is what Lou Reed wishes he sounded like. I feel like I hear all of the instruments both separately and entirely indistinguishable from the whole.

Fantastic album. Musically I was hooked start to finish. However, so many of the songs felt like, “stop what you’re doing and party with me” which was pretty good until he was singing to a girl that he was going to expose her affair to have her all to himself. The bass was killer though.

Woah! I didn’t know Springsteen was like that. This album is American music that truly captures American culture. I’ve been sleeping on Springsteen for too long.

Those Doors were grooving! Such a sleezy vibe but I kinda loved it.

Devo is really good at being ass. I felt like I was watching someone present a dumpster fire they lit. The music was good! The lyrics were good! It just felt like they were fucking around.
