1001 Albums Summary

Reminds me of old corporate America. Very gloomy, good voice. It’s almost like a tale of a medieval love story. Kate Bush is very creative with this album, however I don’t think the execution is all there. There is no real theme behind it all. It would have been interesting to see an overarching theme behind the whole album. It sounds a little too random. Lastly, technically, the albums, mastering, and mixing could have been better. The important part of these songs is not the instrumental, it’s the voice, and sometimes it hides behind poorly mixed instrumentals. However, drums and Orchestra instruments sound very clean and crisp. Especially the drums.

Great blend between early rock and blues. Sets a precedent for future artists like John Mayer that blend blues with rock. No overarching theme that I heard, but solid album.

A classic album for sure. It landmarks the transition between disco, funk and pop. Michael Jackson’s vocals never cease to impress, however, Quincy Jones’ instrumental and arrangements makes this album what it is. And it sets a tone for the rest of MJ‘s career. This album is basically a showcase of Quincy Jones’ genius. I would rate this a 4.5 if I could, because I feel like some songs could’ve had more creativeness to them, especially in the slow ones.

Want to start off by saying that this is not the music that I typically listen to. However, it is very melancholic, but at the same time, hopeful and outgoing. Instrumentals are a little lazy and not creative. Lyrics sound like they have a deeper meaning that just what the words are saying.
