Before listening to this album, I wasn't very familiar with Creedence Clearwater Revival. Of course, I've heard their most famous hits--Fortunate Son, Bad Moon Rising, Born on the Bayou--but little else. Green River was a solid introduction, I think. Sounded more bluesy than I expected. I like John Fogerty's voice, but learning that he's from San Francisco flabbergasted me. Is he affecting that folksy accent, or does he really sound like that? Either way, wild. Highlights for me were Bad Moon Rising (of course), Lodi, Sinister Purpose, and the titular Green River. This is pretty much the only album I've listened to in the genre of "Swamp Rock," so I'd be curious to see how it compares to other icons in the genre.
