Radiohead - In Rainbows. 2007 Album Art: Quite like the simplistically chaotic style of the album art. Reminds me of covers of book, CDs & some online website images from the early 2000's or late 1990's. The explosion & colours in the background resemble spilled or sprayed paint, while also reminding us of a cosmic explosion or nebula. It is utterly colourful with a unique display of the colours pertaining to a rainbow. The font is also so plain &, we feel, is really suited. If there was any more complicated a font on this cover it would loose this distinct style. A mix between simplistic structure, in the font, with the chaotic smashing of colours & lights in the background. The Album: Have a complicated mess of feelings with the music on this album (& maybe Radiohead). It is likely influenced from having heard, throughout my childhood, a lot of their music on repeat everywhere. Having that happen really spoils someone's enjoyment & want to engage with the art. But this album really felt, for lack of a better word. unique. Loved the art & music mash-up that is shown in the video clips against the sometimes simple lyrics & singing. There is something remote & sad about Thom Yorke's singing. Like listening to a far off dirge. Haunting to the core. Also felt like the album was artistic without becoming drenched in tactlessness. Especially while viewing the beautiful &, what felt like, thoughtful music video designs. May have had some tears well up while listening & watching "All I Need". A simple way to say an awful lot & place that weight on the listener/viewer. Favorite(s): Nude All I Need Reckoner
