Ctrl by SZA was an interesting listen, even though it’s not really my usual style. I can definitely appreciate her talent—she has a beautiful voice and delivers the songs with a lot of emotion. However, the album didn’t fully connect with me, and I don’t see myself coming back to it. It’s not a bad album at all, just not something that suits my personal taste. Overall, I’d rate it 2 out of 5 stars.
This album by Ian Dury felt somewhat familiar—I have a vague memory of hearing one of the songs on the radio at some point. I was pleasantly surprised by how well it sounds considering it dates back to 1976. It’s not really my usual style, but it’s easy to listen to. The overall vibe is calm and enjoyable, making it the kind of music you could play in the background while studying or reading. While it was a nice and pleasant experience, it didn’t fully connect with me. I wouldn’t go back to it, but I can appreciate it for what it is.
Let’s Stay Together by Al Green is a really solid album. It sounds incredibly good despite its age. Green’s vocal talent is outstanding—he truly conveys emotion in every song, moving effortlessly from powerful vocals to softer, more intimate moments. The album takes you from catchy, danceable tracks to slower, more personal ones. It’s not my style at all, but I still enjoyed it. I actually listened to it while writing, and it ended up surprising me in a very positive way.
When I Was Born for the 7th Time by Cornershop is not my style at all. While it has a generally pleasant sound, I found it a bit difficult to get through. Many of the songs felt too similar to each other, and I didn’t notice much variety throughout the album. Still, I listened to it with an open mind, trying to find something to connect with. It works as background music while doing other activities, but it didn’t really stand out to me. Overall, I didn’t enjoy it that much and I don’t see myself coming back to it.
Sound of Silver by LCD Soundsystem was an interesting discovery for me, as I wasn’t familiar with the band before. It’s not really my usual style, but I do enjoy this kind of sound from time to time. I found the album engaging and different from what I normally listen to. After looking into the band a bit more, I get the impression that they might have even stronger albums than this one. Still, it’s definitely an interesting band worth giving a chance. I’m not sure if I’ll explore their full discography in depth, but so far, this has been one of the best albums I’ve listened to in this challenge.
Dookie by Green Day was an interesting listen. It has some really good songs, and even though it’s closer to my usual taste than other albums I’ve heard in this challenge, it still didn’t fully click with me. ‘Welcome to Paradise’ was definitely the standout track for me. The album started strong, but as it went on, it began to feel a bit repetitive, and the last few songs were harder to get through because they sounded too similar. Overall, it’s a solid album and it sounds good, but it didn’t leave a strong impact on me. For me, American Idiot is still the better Green Day album.
Venus Luxure No. 1 Baby by Girls Against Boys was a good album overall. It’s closer to the kind of music I usually enjoy, which made it easier for me to get into. I liked the general sound and atmosphere, but I felt like it was missing a truly standout track that could fully grab my attention. It might be one of those albums that deserves a second listen to fully appreciate. Even so, my overall impression was positive and I enjoyed the experience.
