Important. Trascendent. Powerful. (1/1001)
That's all I catched from this album. Not only did the variety of sounds surprise me, but also how... present it is, especially for such an old album.
It's really charged in a good way, a clear message from a voice that was so, sooo needed for the time period; a voice who spoke of mutual love and care, enjoying life despite how many times it treated us harshly and without taking our frustration on others, of the economic, social and psychological consequences that war brings into families and the soldiers that survived... and the importance of supporting and treating each other
like human beings
it's super trascendental too, it's always crazy to me when a project feels so important even years after, not just from the influence but also from the message... and the fact that we as humans haven't seemed to improve too much since this album dropped is really something to think about
i think the album really deserves to be in this list, it's a powerful album that when i first listened to it, i didn't know whether to feel sad or thoughtful, or even both, and I think that Mr. Marvin did a really great job on expressing his feelings and message to the crowd
4.5
Not really my type of music, or even of rock... might need a few relistens, but I'm just not feeling it right now.
it's alright
Beautiful album, beautiful, beautiful. (3/1001)
Another album full of hope, damn it... it makes me feel happy, it shows us that we can be happy with the simplest thing like dreams and sports, and love of course.
I knew it was gonna be a whole vibe once I saw it was brazilian lmao.
4.5/5
Wow... this actually surprised me.
I've seen this album around A LOT, even the alternate cover, and I almost thought this was gonna be slop just because it was rock and it was popular (ignorant, i know... :c)
but now that i listened to it, i actually absolutely loved it, it's like the distilled, pure good essence of garage rock band music, I've never thought i'd like something like this but man do I NOT care. This is actually the type of thing i'd see myself listening to if i was born in the 80's or so lmao
definitely gonna listen to it a lot, and maybe even sing it in the shower
Honestly... It surprised me. (5/1001)
at the first song, i'm sorry but i couldn't help but think like "wth is this yoinky sploinky ass song?", but after continuing with the album anyways, i realized that this was WAAAY too ahead of it's time
even I thought this was something you would hear in a club somewhere in teh Futurama universe, but to think that this was made in '78... i don't know how people would've reacted at hearing this album around that time, really
not only that, but i can clearly see how this might've influenced HEAVILY in the electronic music industry, though the only names I can name are Daft Punk, Aphex Twin... and damn, even Kanye in 808s & Heartbreak
it isn't something i'd listen to every day, but it really has been a trippy experience, in a good way of course.
It's... good. (7/1001)
That's all i got to say honestly, once i saw the vast amount of streams some songs had i had big expectations... but they weren't met all too well.
It's got some good songs here and there, but this one's not for me. I get if someone would put this album while doing their morning routine but i would never see myself listening to this
Only standouts: Go Your Own Way, Songbird, The Chain. The rest of the album with no offense sounds like it would belong in a Happy Madison movie. though "The Chain" was actually REALLY good, but it was the only song i actually really liked...
I would never say no to some jazzy music. (8/1001)
This is another band i had no idea who they were or how was their sound, and i was impressed... the first song already enamoured me with the first few seconds with that sax, and it just kept getting better and better
the rest of the album is unfortunately all instrumental but it doesn't make it any less amazing, it's a really fresh listen and I wish it was even more longer... but i guess their discography is there to listen too
