Apr 23 2026

22-Apr-2026 4/5 I liked this album, although I prefer some of his original work better. Some of the covers were decent and I remember them from when he released these versions. But I think that the original versions of his covers are better. Overall, a good album that I enjoyed, but not a stand-out for me.

Guitar Town by Steve Earle
Apr 24 2026

I'm really not a country music guy although I did listen to John Denver a lot when I was young. I ended up listening to all of it, but it took a couple of sittings. One thing I did notice is that there were some places where he sounded like The Bodeans' early stuff which I really like.

Catch A Fire by Bob Marley & The Wailers
Apr 27 2026

24-Apr-2026 4/5 Catch A Fire (1973). Bob Marley & The Wailers I listened to this one over the course of the day. I've been listening to more reggae in the last couple of years (during woodworking in the garage) and have gotten accustomed to reggae other than what I now consider to be more "popular reggae". Stuff we used to listen to years ago, Bob Marley's Legend, UB40, even some of the Peter Tosh stuff kind of sound so commercial to me now - but perhaps only because they are sometimes overplayed? This album definitely had a more authentic/traditional feel to it - very low key and relaxing.

Kid A by Radiohead
Apr 28 2026

27-Apr-2026 2/5 Radiohead - Kid A (2000) I found this album unremarkable. I listened to the whole album (inactive listening) and replayed a couple of them (active listening) just to make sure that I wasn't missing something. I generally like electronic music, but none of these songs seemed to grab me at all. It wasn't terrible, and probably fine for me as background music while doing other things, but it's definitely not an album I would sit down and listen to. I suspect that this album was edgy in 2000, but perhaps that new luster can fade on some music.

2112 by Rush
Apr 29 2026

28-Apr-2026 1/5 Rush - 2112 (1976) Sitting through the title track, I likened much of the sounds to big-hair, power-guitar eighties bands music. But likely my listening is not nuanced enough. Tears (Track 5) seemed like the only departure from the power-guitar riffs and ballads, and is one that I might listen to again. In general, this album is not my style or taste, but I recognize the broader appeal it has - just not for me.
