1001 Albums Summary

An absolutely legendary classic for a reason

Been meaning to listen to Sufjan for a long time and it did not disappoint. Very unique style. Sometimes reminded me of "A Pillow of Winds" by Pink Floyd. I can easily see the hype around Sufjan and this album specifically, and how it influenced Indie music greatly.

Easy to see why this album had the trajectory it did - deeply ahead of its time and probably too raw/gritty for 60s audiences at the time. But of course as music started to bend that way, this is looked upon as a founder of Grunge, Indie, and Punk. Great album.

I've been meaning to listen to more of them, and this being their debut it definitely laid out their style so well and for being so early in the 80s it feels ahead of its time with more of a jangly pop sound that wasn't as common for the early 80s. Good album but I still prefer the later albums like AFTP, Monster, etc.

Graceland (song) is one of my all time favorites. I love this album, and definitely a seminal work by one of the best songwriters ever. So poignant, introspective, and an amazing listen. Some songs that I haven't latched on to quite as much though.

Blister in the sun is a classic. I liked this album a lot more than when I first listened. Didn't realize it was so early, 83. It sounds much more like a 90s album, which makes me think it influenced that sound a lot. Bands like Pavement and such.

All timer, grew up on these songs being played all the time. Every song is a hit.

I love Bob so much. His music completely changed my life. While not my favorite album (there's a decent amount of songs that I don't love, but still like), this album being his first of all original music is astonishing. Blowin in the Wind, Girl from the North Country, Masters of War, Hard Rain's, Don't Think Twice. Most artists would kill to have any of these songs under their belt. Not enough words to describe how much I love his songwriting, and this album started it all.
