This album was massive at the time. I never saw the attraction then, and don't now. Mark Knopfler can't sing very well, and his guitar playing is apparently technically amazing, then end result is too middle of the road for me. I honestly can't understand why this was a big success. "The Man's Too Strong" on Side B is probably the best one, but all the singles are cheesy (even, if we're honest, by 1980s standards). The final track of the album - Brothers in Arms - is dirge.
