1001 Albums Summary

This listener set out on this new adventure blind to many styles of music and deaf in one ear due to an errant step on my IEMs. This album couldn't be any better of a place to begin. I sit and am soothed and gently tugged into this album. The titular track lures you into the mystery of the remainder of the album. Your journey is like a walk around a garden after awakening from a dream you wish were true. The voice whispers behind a veil of mist, but the air rings with the sound of fingers picking on tight strings. You can hear Nick Drake's fingerprints on the coiled steel. An album of atmosphere and round sounds that encompasses all of you.

The hits are hits, the other songs are forgettable. Not the best of the White Stripes, but not a bad album. Fell in Love with a Girl is a true standout. The type of song that I can't help but associate with driving 2 min to the high school baseball field for practice. Joy and excitement pour out. The rest of the album is not great at best and tedious at worst.

Good album with some real bangers. Felt like a 4.25. Everything felt a little too nostalgic.

Man, this is pretty good. First song really kicks it off in a fun and true rock way. This is what an album should be, not too long, no bad songs (one exception), with a common feeling or theme. Wonderful album. If it weren't for the awful "Don't," this would be a perfect 5. I'm still going to put 5, but it's really a 4.75. I will be listening to this a lot in the future.
