Time Out by The Dave Brubeck Quartet
Apr 27 2026

I love the progression of the songs and the major tones. Take five reminds me of the pink panther. With this genre, as a general dislike of mine, mixing of drums are a bit uncomfortable. They have too much chiming going on.

Madman Across The Water by Elton John
Apr 28 2026

Rich sound profile across the whole album, mad man across the water is being richest in my opinion. Everyone is masters of their instruments, not much to say. I like the tavern-like feeling in Holiday Inn song. In general, I feel like all the songs have the gospel kind of magic that creates a feeling of home and community for certain people. It’s just not my cup of tea for all occasions, but tonight it was delicious.

The Gershwin Songbook by Ella Fitzgerald
Apr 29 2026

What a freaking wonderful storyteller. Words are so simple, so delicate and tells a lot by attempting less. Her voice is smoky and enchanting. This time I am happy that drums have more dimension than most other pieces in this genre. Aren’t you kind of glad we did? Isn’t it a pity? Slap that bass

Head Hunters by Herbie Hancock
Apr 30 2026

Let’s fucking go. I heard Herbie Hancock a week ago through a colleague. The sound profile is way ahead of its time. The album starts with a what I called a “fusion song”: Chameleon. It’s literally like a chameleon. Funky bass, 60s rock tunes. I figured I love the smokey sound of jazz a lot. The smoke in the sound of the saxophone always creates that visualisation of infusing whiskey with a smoke. The song literally changes colour over time. Brilliant.

Paul Simon by Paul Simon
May 01 2026

This album has come to me at the wrong place and time. Lately, I am very tired of blunt expressions lack of thought and elegance. I am a firm believer of expressionism, but this form of expression is not resonating with my current state. Maybe another time. I listened to four songs and I won’t continue. After writing this, I revisited to check if I was too harsh. Guitar is playful. Breaking down, jumping half steps. But collectively it makes me feel like I’m suffocating. I feel like it’s the lyrics.
