1001 Albums Summary

I could listen to this any time. Franklin’s voice along with beautiful instrumentals provided for a soothing listening experience.

Definitely experimental rock but experimental in the sense that it was a bit too out there for the radio. Sonically it’s close to easy listening, very nice to just let wash over you. Saw a review that compared it to Springsteen and I’d say I agree in a weird way.

Some standout tracks and loved how inventive the rock was but it kind of blended all together for me. Could totally see raising this a star after another listen tho.

This one also needs another listen cuz I was really feeling it at the end but it was pretty consistent yet unremarkable for the first 70% of the album. Like I said, it could’ve been an unfair shake as I enjoyed the last four tracks a lot and I heard those in the morning after some sleep.

Joni Mitchell is a genius, constantly hopping from witty and silly to deeply solemn and introspective. Instrumentals and vocals are both done with such skill and class. The kind of album that makes you want to raise the score of the other albums because your value of musical enjoyment has gone up.

Elton John is one of those artists that you don't really realize how much you like until you sit down and think about it. Indian Sunset is so great man.

Super weird and different and fun. Mix of reggae and British punk sensibility, as well as maybe the birth of ska? Great listen.

I really debated on whether this was a three or a four star album. Eventually I came to understand this flavor of punk, that of an almost jazz-like improvisational style. A lot of the instrumentals hold up in the modern day, pretty impressive stuff.

I think I’m starting to get this whole U2 craze.

Ray Charles lives up to the gaudy title with some beautiful big brass 50s stuff that my Fallout-loving self can absolutely appreciate. So full of charm and talent and life.
