1001 Albums Summary

On a personal enjoyment front this was more of a trial to go through than even a passive listen. Fundamentally I simply do not enjoy the vocals when its so heavily weighed on said aspect it makes it incredibly hard to ignore otherwise. Also the forced visual of the TMNT shouting in my face. On a foundation/history/culture front this gets a 5/5. Early disc jockey techniques and sound are absolutely dripping from every song and modern day dj'ing simply wouldn't be the same without the beastie boys. Favorite Song: No Sleep Till Brooklyn

This one's a meditative bedroom listen I'd reach for one searching for some amount of catharsis. Fiona's vocals hit hard and fast from the start of the album and don't really give up for the rest of the hour. Any album that starts heavy and swings into melancholy will always have my heart in some sense. Carrion is a very close second for my favorite on this album just for how emotionally explosive it is.
