Popular Reviews

Birth Of The Cool by Miles Davis

Mr. Baby enjoyed this one. Not terribly memorable, but melodious and a good background album for cooking.

Birth Of The Cool by Miles Davis
Jun 02 2026

Mr. Baby enjoyed this one. Not terribly memorable, but melodious and a good background album for cooking.

All Directions by The Temptations
Jun 03 2026

Gets off to a slow start but hits a groove with Papa Was a Rollin' Stone's whopping 12 min stomp and some subsequent tender hooks.

From Elvis In Memphis by Elvis Presley
Jun 04 2026

Ends with some massive hits, but we both enjoyed the grooves of the album’s first half, which didn’t align with what we thought was Elvis’s style. It’s less in your face and more chill, with simple but tuneful basslines

Jazz Samba by Stan Getz
Jun 05 2026

Background music. Evocative of a time. Good for a date. Not distracting but not a standout.

Seventeen Seconds by The Cure
Jun 06 2026

Some okay basslines, but there’s nothing notable here lyrically

Solid Air by John Martyn
Jun 07 2026

One or two good songs, but descends into parody by the end. Reminds me of some of my least favorite bits of Donovan -- trying too hard to sound like a soul musician.

Born To Run by Bruce Springsteen
Jun 08 2026

An all timer!

Odelay by Beck
Jun 09 2026

I understand why this is "smart" music, but I found it largely painful to listen to, and some nice bass hooks and rhythms don't hold back that dislike. Pass.

Street Life by The Crusaders
Jun 14 2026

First few songs are particularly groovy and have the whole family bopping. By the end it’s a bit background music. I’ll look out for other albums by them.

Morrison Hotel by The Doors
Jun 17 2026

I've never quite understood The Doors' vibe. I think it's a "you had to be there" thing. There's something sorta sinister about the electric organ they use in so many of their songs that makes their music sound like a bad trip ."Waiting for the Sun" is my highlight here.

Jun 18 2026

This is fundamentally not my music, but I appreciate it’s doing this kind of rock very well, and there are bits of certain songs that mirror the more vibey hard rock I enjoy.

Nevermind by Nirvana
Jun 19 2026

I just don’t enjoy this at all
