1001 Albums Summary

Always was and still is an incredible powerhouse of an album. My rating is for purely sentimental reasons.

I mean, there's no arguing that the man was one supremely talented individual in the right place, at the right time. I went into this album expecting it to be a struggle. It wasn't a struggle, but it's also something I would not intentionally choose to endure. At least the songs are short.

Eh, it was okay, I didn't love it but I didn't hate it either. Probably saved by the first 3 tracks and Father and Son

This album should be considered as Rock canon. I'm not the hugest ZZ Top fan but this album is an absolute powerhouse. Very enjoyable listen from start to finish.

Better than the early stuff but still not a fan. Obvious stand-out tracks are In the Ghetto and Suspicious Minds

Easy listening. Great production. Very evocative, cold rainy weekends, in front of the fireplace with a large glass of red wine.

This album does not appear in my version of the book, so was a bit of a surprise, not unpleaseantly so. I'd never heard of Calexico until today. Reminds me musically in parts of Zorn or maybe I'm misremembering. Not a huge fan of the Mariachi sound. Quattro (World Drifts In) Black Heart Pepita Woven Birds
