1001 Albums Summary

I wish I could listen to this with fresh ears, untainted by decades of advertising and general modernity, but as it is this isn't for me. Perfectly enjoyable to have on though, you forget it's live after a while.

This is just not the best Bowie album, the title track is good but some of the soundscapes going on elsewhere are borderline annoying. I like the direction it goes but it never arrives, in my opinion.

horny and danceable but otherwise not my thing

Monkey Gone to Heaven and Hey are the standouts for me. Influenced tons of shit I love. Black Francis' vocals aren't my favorite, which keeps Pixies out of my heavy rotation, but it's a great album.

Supertramp is responsible for one of my least favorite songs of all time (The Logical Song) so this struck fear in my heart but none of this was anywhere near as annoying as that, it was just Queen-y prog. Which is to say, still not something I would reach for. But I thought "Rudy" was quite good, and yeah the songs are too long but it's only 8 tracks so it was tolerable. Better than I thought!
