1001 Albums Summary

Thought it was okay. I struggled with the fact that the vocals often felt somewhat empty and disconnected from the instrumentals, and the drums always felt very similar across songs and in my opinion didn't change very often. I think that this album suffers from its length and therefore kind of blurs together. I did enjoy the more abstract sounds included and thought they added a good bit of character. I liked Double Bass a lot and would listen to it again. I think this album is good for a very specific moment in time, but it's not something that I would replay in its entirety very often.

I enjoyed this album, but I think that it's more so something that I would have on in the background rather than really pay attention to. I like her voice and the instrumentals all work very well together. I would most likely listen to it again.

One of my struggles with this album is that all of the songs sound so alike. So much so that sometimes I wonder if the same song has been on for ten minutes. Aside from that, The Strokes do know how to create something pretty catchy. I actually do like the distortion on the vocals; I think it fits their style really well. I can appreciate some of the guitar riffs, but they are pretty simple and something that you might learn in your very first week or two of picking up a guitar. Alas, they are pretty nice to listen to and get kind of lost in. This album has a lot of very specific things that I like and appreciate, but for me it would be hard to have on repeat.
