Disintegration by The Cure
Jun 23 2026

As I'm seeing the Cure about a week from the moment I am writing this, I was happy to find out this album was the first on the 1001 list I got exposed to. Great tracks on here, but the gloominess of the general sound is still a bit hard to appreciate (especially now it's 25 degrees celcius outside and the sun's out). Nevertheless, some of the guitar sounds I like very much, and Robert Smith's dreamy singing really fits the mood.

In Rainbows by Radiohead
Jun 24 2026

-> Radiohead through my years -> Thom Yorke's voice work -> The Smile -> Pop music vs Radiohead When I was a teenager working shifts in the supermarket, one of my older colleagues and me were discussing music. Back then, I was listening a lot to Coldplay, and asked for his opinion (this must have been around the Mylo Xyloto phase). He said it was fine, but he liked Radiohead better. That was the first time someone mentioned Radiohead to me. And this was before Instagram and Spotify. I still am a fan of Radiohead. In 2022 I got to see The Smile live, giving me a taste of what Radiohead is like playing live. Thom Yorke's voice is absolutely mesmerising. I think that's what keeps amazing me listening to In Rainbows: the contrast between gentle parts where his voice gets the space to be, and the absolute shredding of the guitars in the next song. My favorite tracks are Bodysnatchers and Jigsaw Falling Into Place.

Here's Little Richard by Little Richard
Jun 25 2026

Considering I love the Beatles and everything Paul McCartney makes, this album was quite the origin story. It’s interesting to go back and hear where all those influences come from. Not for the main rotation though.

Blood On The Tracks by Bob Dylan
Jun 26 2026

Not really my vibe. I guess the lyrics are carrying this record, and they’re a little too chewy for me.
