1001 Albums Summary

Very calm and peaceful. Production is very, very good, can listen to this album over and over while doing some work or while driving. It sounds like country music vibes? All songs are similar tho, and you can tell they’re from the same album, and there's not much distinction between songs. Almost all the songs are his own compositions, and he has written most of them too, and it is strangely political even though it sounds very laid back.

Really loved the intro. This is clearly a production-first rock album, so I don’t think the lyrics are really the focus here. Even Marc Bolan said this album was more about him than the style of lyricism he’d been known for before. The outro on the second track is so, so good. Jeepster was easily my favorite—it went straight into my playlist alongside Tiny Dancer. Monolith was another standout; such an interesting track. After Monolith, though, the album just stopped clicking for me. Lean Woman Blues, Get It On, and Planet Queen never gave me that “ooh, nice” moment or held my attention the way the first half did. They just didn’t feel right to me. Maybe it’s a controversial opinion, but I genuinely didn’t enjoy a single track after Monolith until Rip Off, which was a great closer.
