1001 Albums Summary

Very exciting, refreshing and colorful album, full of great performances that join together in such an organic manner that really send the message home about the soul and beauty of what was done across the 4 tracks on this album. I'm not very used to listen to jazz music, but was very very pleasently surprised with Head Hunters: every song, despite the length of each track, is just so entertaining, allways offering something new every second, with the highlight, in my opinion, being the 3rd track, Sly, especially the keys solo (hope I'm not making a mistake assuming it's keys), had me on the edge of my seat with every bar. Each song is also very unique, but feels very well contextualized in the album's aesthetic. Super enjoyable listen!

Amazing album, not much used to listen to blues and jazz inspired music, and Nina Simone's Wild Is The Wind really surprised me in a very positive way. Her voice is so powerful and so sweet, depending on what she is trying to acheiev on each track, and she does it masterfully, with an extremely unique timber but very diverse in her vocal aproach. Plus, the instrumentals are always beautiful, complex and full of life, from the tracks that feature only Nina Simone's voice and piano, like the title track Wild Is The Wind and If I Should Lose You, to the band-featuring songs like I Love Your Lovin' Ways, That's All I Ask and Why Keep On Breaking My Heart. At the end of the day it's a rich, diverse and just extremely beautiful art piece.
