Physical Graffiti by Led Zeppelin
Dec 07 2025

The lush bluesy sprawling soundscapes almost make me forget how much I hate these 70s rock vocals. Love the guitar tones and vastly prefer Zeppelin to their counterparts of this era, but still sometimes a chore for the runtime on some of these tracks. I know all my reviews of this genre are sacrilegious, but it just isn't for me. Houses of the Holy, Kashmir, and Down by the Seaside were my favorite tracks. Also appreciated Bron-Yr-Aur to get a break from the vocals. -listened on Beach Trip 2026

Aladdin Sane by David Bowie
Dec 08 2025

Eventually, I will find some 70s albums that I like, but this wasn't one of them. The maximalist rock opera thing isn't for me. I didn't care for the rock piano stuff and guitar tones that were going on for most of the album. I do think the title track hit the theme for the album the best and most interestingly.

Songs For Swingin' Lovers! by Frank Sinatra
Dec 09 2025

Every time I listen to my boy Frank, I have a Pavlovian response and salivate for unlimited soup, salad, and breadsticks. It hits better when I'm eating chicken and gnocchi, otherwise pretty bland, but its smooth at least.

Heaven Or Las Vegas by Cocteau Twins
Dec 10 2025

Basically its like being suspended in an amniotic sac filled with Jello shot and then being launched into space.

Brothers In Arms by Dire Straits
Dec 11 2025

Vibes are like what if Jimmy Buffet was in Steely Dan. I do not like it.

Dec 12 2025

Slow for sure, but I like the funky soul and gospel vibes. Plus its sad, angry, and horny and thats fun too.

21 by Adele
Dec 13 2025

Quintessential department store music, but sometimes its fun to sing along too. She can certainly sing.

Dec 14 2025

I was not excited about listening to a live double album. Probably would be a sick concert but was repetitive af to listen to.

Band On The Run by Paul McCartney and Wings
Jul 06 2026

First four tracks ruled, slowed down in the middle for me, but the last two were hits too. Loved all the bluesy riffs and whenever they showcased the brass elements. Again goes to show how every song slaps more when you add a little sax. Paul is the best Beatle. -listened on Beach Trip 2026

Synchronicity by The Police
Jul 07 2026

The beginning of this album was sonically engineered for me to loathe. Messy genre fusion incorporating the grating yelpy 70s rock vocals, sometimes with reggae accent amidst some van halen ass synths. And then Mother comes in and is like a shitty Suicidal Tendencies song that tonally made no sense. It did hit its stride more with me once we got to funkier pop staccato stuff and jazz elements and Stings vocals were a bit less grating. It alternates from some fairly decent, albeit creepy, songwriting with some absolute cornball shit. I won't return to this project as a whole, but Murder by Numbers, King of Pain, and O My God were standouts for me where the blending genres worked better and I didn't end up hating the whole thing. -Listened on 2026 beach trip

Jul 08 2026

They use every second of this extremely accessible runtime for frenetic satirical anti-capitalism and anti-facism in this scathing review of culture and politics. Loved it, no notes. Also recognize this album calls out the particular flavor of leftism I am participating in by consuming this album on expensive headphones on a beach while experiencing white guilt. -listened on beach trip 2026

Vanishing Point by Primal Scream
Jul 09 2026

This shit is amazing. Love the like dark industrial triphoppy shoegazey sounds. More of this please.

The Only Ones by The Only Ones
Jul 10 2026

None of this worked for me but it was certainly unique.
