1001 Albums Summary

Solid overall with some fantastic hits. Some of the songs didn't hit as much for me as like an album like Let's Dance's non-hits. Will put in the rotation.

Fantastic album. All time hits with some really interesting songs mixed in. Personally love longer songs as they let the artist really express themselves (which i think is Prince just fucking non-stop. Dude is really horny). Loved this album, never bored.

It's fine. Sounds like the same song over and over again. It's very background music at a chill spot where it sets, or underscores, an emotional tone. It's not trying to blow you away but hit a vibe and maintain that. It does that well.

I think Bob Dylan is of a time and place where he makes sense as a massive, heroic, bard channeling a generation's anxieties and desires. He has some great songs and then 5 slap average songs. A great song turns into plodding by the time you get to minute 5. Lyrics are either incredibly evocative or a 12 year old trying to sound deep. Masters of War is a perfect example. Absolutely enthralling start, and the he just keeps talking and talking and the passion dissipates with each new verse as he goes from righteous fury to man reading his list of grievances at a city council open forum.

I have heard the singles but never knew they comprised the front half of this album. One banger after another. The back half of the album is more rock than pop, a nice change that keeps your attention while still clearly showing off their skills and music writing. Midnight Show is my favorite of the non-hits.
