1001 Albums Summary

feels like walking into a busy bar. heavy, but occasionally hopeful. I would bet that Brandon Flowers (The Killers) drew a lot of inspiration from him; the cadence and rasp of Springsteen’s voice in the opening track reminds me of “Sam’s Town.” Honestly, the whole album evokes that vibe of Americana and folk/rock music. Really the blueprint for a lot of artists. I’ve heard these songs throughout my life but never listened to the full album.

easy to listen to, and surprisingly contemporary despite how old the album is. this is very much the sound I associate with Sinatra—a smooth voice and a big band.

I can’t be objective about this album. Even if it isn’t perfect, it still gets a five from my heart. Arcade Fire was my first live show, and I put this album cover on the wall of first apartment. Sometimes I can’t believe it.
