1001 Albums Summary

Exceptional, almost mathematical, studio work. Everything from the synths to the drums sounds perfect. Probably the best rock drums I've ever heard from and objective viewpoint.

She has such a deep soulful voice. technically perfect, but when she wants to she ignores all rules and breaks it apart for the sake of the phrase's grit and power. Also has one of the most spectacular piano performances I've had the chance to hear recorded. Her dynamics are cinematic and her hands seem to hover, almost fly, above the keys spreading glitter and shadows all over the pieces she wrote herself. The greatest example of this is Wild is the Wind. It's clear why she's considered one of the greatest songwriters and performers of her generation. One of a kind. Not important at all, but I find that the tape hiss gives it a special kind of warmth. Product of its time, not sure if intentional, but still I appreciate it.
