guitar heavy, interesting political themes, blended rock blues and folk, crazy instrumentals first title named 'immigrant song' - ' will drive our ships to new lands' don't know how in love I am with white old guys commenting on ethnic struggle but who knows. track 2 'friends' - long strumming, interesting tempo, not my fav kind of eerie COOL ASS BLEND INTO TRACK 3 track 3 'celebration day' - hype as fuck, cool loopy guitar, fun and energetic 'my my my im so happy im gonna join the band, we are gonna dance and sing in celebration, we are in the promised land.' track 4 - since ive been loving you - ooo that a intro guitar is smooothhhh as fuck damn, loving this slower smoother vibe, 'ive been working from seven to eleven every night, I said it kinda makes my life a drag drag draggg', 'but baby since ive been loving you, im bouta lose my worried mind.' reallyyy loving this cant lie SAIDDDD IVE BEEN CRYING, oh my tears they fell like rain DAMNNNNN that was smooth, super interesting chord progression love some blues n rock blend track 5 'out on the tiles' - ok groovy, out on the town, I like it, think this would grow on me track 6 'gallows pole' - also groovy, lyrics are interesting, feels like a bargaining of some sort, asking for a friends help??, hangman as in hanging?? bargaining for his life, cool story, don't know how much I like/resonate but definitely interesting track 7 'tangerine' - ooooo very pretty guitar in the beginning, does she still remember times like these, to think of us again, and I doooo, and sick guitar bridge, beautiful track 8 'thats the way' - light airy feel, like childhood;I cant play with you no more, I don't know how im gonna do what mama told me, my friend, the boy next doorrrr, 'and yesterday I saw you standing by the river, and weren't those tears that filled your eyes, and all the fish that lay in dirty water dying, had they got you hypnotized??' wow 'and yesterday I saw you kissing tiny flowers, BUT ALL THAT LIVES IS BORN TO DIEEEE' wow this is pretty lyrically beautiful, the outro instrumentals are so perfect track 9 'bron-y-aur stomp' - cool strumming to start off, gradually gets heavier more substantial, adds in a nice drum beat, oooo groovy as fuckkkk, 'hear the wind whisper in the trees, telling Mother Nature bout you and me', this is nice and fun track 10 'hats off the (roy) harper' - ok funky instrumentals, idk how I feel about it to be honest, not my favourite, 'no brown skinned woman gonna make no monkey outa me??? excuse you????' OVERALL : id say track 7 8 and 4 rly stood out to me, and I may revisit those songs, overall the album didn't really resonate with me, I found it relied on strong instrumentals (which I enjoyed) but wasn't lyrically focused which is something I usually gravitate towards, the style isn't my cup of tea and I don't think I connected with the album as a whole

ok super interesting, never listened to a lot of Irish type of folk music before, so its a new sound for me track 1 'if I should fall from grace with god' - new sound still getting used to it, 'bury me at sea where no murdered ghost can haunt me no corpse shall lie upon me', interesting start track 2 'Turkish song of the damned' - intro sounds kind of Arabian, it sounds very traditional folky im not sure if the sound is for me, I feel like it could grow on me because the lyricism feels powerful, but idk rn it sounds arabic Irish which Is an interesting blend 'the spectre on my back will soon be free, the dead have come to claim a debt from thee' wowza, it sounds like a lot of accordion, I guess its Turkish thats why I thought of arabic music, its asian actually track 3 'bottle of smoke' - ok I just don't like this one track 4 'fairytale of New York ft Kirsty maccolly' - ok I feel so much more connected to the leads voice this time, they really slowed down and the raspy messiness feels nostalgic and warm, I love it as a christmas song, 'when you first took my hand on a cold chrismas eve, you promised me broadway was waiting for me', 'you're a bum you're a punk your an old slut on junk, lying there almost dead on a drip on that bed, you scumbag you maggot you cheap lousy faggot' LOLLLL I like it, nice nostalgic instrumentals to close out track 5 'metropolis' - strong traditional feeling instrumentals, something new I like it track 6 'thousands are sailing' - immediately the lyrics feel bold and political, 'and the torch lights up a famished man, who's fortune could not save, did you work upon the railroad? did you rid the streets of crime? were your dollars from the White House? were they from the five and dime' I really appreciate and love that, 'thousdans are sailing, across the western sea, to a land of oppurtunity, that some will never see, fortune prevailing, across the western ocean, their bellies full, their spirits free' love this lyric focused on Irish emigration its something interesting I read about this semester and I love the ode to that experience in this song, omg I love the lyric where they tipped their hats to mister Cohen (assuming they're talking about Leonard Cohen?) interesting when another artist is referenced in a body work track 7 'fiesta' - oooo immediately in LOVE with the instrumentals at the beginning wowza is that saxophone, and then we transition into something lively as hellllll, love the Spanish bits I wonder which member of the band is speaking Spanish? is it the lead again it kinda sounds like him hmmm track 8 'medley : the recruiting sergeant/the rocky Road to Dublin/galway races' - ok long ass title, feels very traditional in terms of sound, I appreciate the ode back to their heritage and roots, again not sure if trad Irish instrumentals are my thing track 9 'streets of sorrow/birmingham six' - 'oh how I long to find some solace, in my mind I curse the strain, so farewell you streets of sorrow' love this instrumental on the first half so melancholy and soft, really up my alley sound wise, and then the second half has an abrupt and cool transition into Birmingham six and some very cool storytelling, 'who tortured the innocent the wrongly accused, for the price of promotion and justice to sell' track 10 'lullaby of London' - 'you can hear the cars and the shouts from bars, and the lauhjyer and the fights, may the ghosts that howled round the house at night never keep you from your sleep' I like this there's something rly comforting about it, one of my favs on the album definitely, so nostalgic feeling and it absolutely has something to do with the voice of the vocalist, raspy and melancholy its beautiful track 11 'sit down by the fire' - more intense feeling, quick one, probs not my favourite track 12 'the broad majestic shannon' - this is nice and upbeat but simultaneously nostalgic and a little sad, it feels reminiscent, the lyrics really feel like they paint a picture for me, it feels like im being told a story and I love it honestly, the chorus is lovely, love the lyric 'there'll be whiskey on Sunday and tears on our cheeks' track 13 'worms' - interesting and kinda eerie close to the album, feels appropriate OVERALL : this is something I can pay my respects to for what it is, blending strong and traditional Irish instrumentals with such stark sometimes comedic and political lyricism is bold and cool as hell, I love the Irish honestly, loved their take on a christmas carol, felt very patriotic and they paid strong respect and nod to their heritage, traditional music, and the rich Irish history, very visceral and fascinating narratives and storytelling, im still not sure if the traditional Irish sound is for me with all the fiddles and stuff but I think some of these songs are powerful enough to stick with me

starts out with some wonky notes super interesting, I love the different instrumentals!!!!! each part of the song really feels like a new turn in a story. ive always loved jazz, grew up with it sincee its my moms fav kind of music and we grew up going to the jazz festival in Toronto, this feels nostalgic and smooth, I love the storytelling of jazz. I think brilliant corners is my favourite piece. my mom would love this! I will def be playing it for her.

okkkkkk starts out with nice light instrumentals feels kind of 2000s I like it track 1 'so far away' - I'm tired of being in love and being all alone When you're so far away from me I'm tired of making out on the telephone 'Cause you're so far away from me I love it wowza, its a great solid intro track, sets a great tone for the rest of the album track 2 'money for nothing' - intro vocals are super cool, kind of airy and like alien feeling, oh shitttt that electric guitar is sickkkkk, that beat wow im loving the music on this, 'See the little faggot with the earring and the make up' ????LOLLLLL lots of faggot in this song, I wonder what the Inspo is behind this, talking about modern inventions, deliveries microwave ovens colour tv?. the song is grooovyyyyy as hell tho, I rly loved this tbh track 3 'walk of life' - this sounds super familiar, upbeat sound feels like something id play when the sun is out and I wanted to dance, I like it, I think ive heard it before but not my favourite track 4 'your latest trick' - oooooo the sax in the beginning is gorgeous, and adding in the guitar wow this instrumental is fucking amazing like im levitatingggggggg, And most of the taxis, most of the whores Are only taking calls for cash, omg wow its smooth its groovy its lovely, the songwriting is simple but paints such a picture and feels so vivid and disrtinct and reminds me a bit of billy Joel this one is def amazing im really loving this album so far track 5 'why worry' - wow this song feels like the next morning after 'your latest trick' if that makes sense, But baby, 'I'll wipe away those bitter tears I'll chase away those restless fears' 'There should be laughter after pain, There should be sunshine after rain, These things have always been the same, So why worry now' the instrumentals at the end are fucking amazing, I could listen to this on loop track 6 'ride across the river' - 'Now I'm a soldier of fortune, I'm a dog of war, And we don't give a damn who the killing is for' wow thats a powerful lyric. again the music I rly telling a story, swampy guitar and drums, just super cool track 7 'the mans too strong' - nice strum pattern to open, feels more country vibes, those strong bursts of guitar feel almost like thunder and lightning its so sudden and has some crashing in the back, 'Well, I've tried to be meek, I have tried to be mild, But I spat like a woman, And I sulked like a child' track 8 'one world' - ok groovy opener, nice heavy beat, funky guitars, 'Can't get no sleeves for my records, Can't get no laces for my shoes, Can't get no fancy notes on my blue guitar' Im loving this already, 'There's no such thing as sanity, And that's the sanest fact' wowza I love this, and it feels strangely political, talking about the news, impure motives and yeah. the guitar is fkn sick track 9 'brother in arms' - heavier, slower, moodier sound to open. wow, soft and beautiful guitar, with such political lyricism, feels incredibly powerful, 'Through these fields of destruction, Baptisms of fire, I've witnessed your suffering, As the battle raged higher, And though they did hurt me so bad, In the fear and alarm, You did not desert me, My brothers in arms' oh wow the guitar is so soulful and deep it rly makes you feel something, its amazing, 'But it's written in the starlight, And every line in your palm, We're fools to make war, On our brothers in arms' this is just an incredibly beautiful song, I think its very powerful and id really like to know the exact context and inspiration for this song wow OVERALL : they're very big on their instrumental intros which I appreciate, it sets the tone for each track and makes each piece feel distinct, simple but powerful lyrics, often political, rly paints a picture but the music really drives the lyrics, its pretty beautiful, I think this is right up my alley honestly and this is an amazing album

never noticed that all the songs are consistently so short, like each is 2.30 min, wonder if its within this genre or the time of music track 1 'blue suede shoes' - a classic, and an incredibly timeless song, groovy and fun, have always loved this one, 'you can burn my house, steal my car, drink my liquor from an old fruit jar' just soooo groovy, Elvis always reminds me of uncle Jesse on full house track 2 'im counting on you' - sweet song, beautiful, feels old, and gorgeous love song track 3 'I got a woman' - 'she knows a woman's place is right there, now, in her home'???????? interesting! track 4 'one sided love affair' - I like this one, its cool as hell, makes me wanna dance icl, 'if you wanna be kissed, you gotta kiss me tooo oh yeah' track 5 'I love you because' - wow this ones beautiful, feels like something id dance to at my wedding, in fact I may have to, its so beautiful 'I love you for the way you never doubt me, but most of all I love you bc your you' wow im really touched by this one track 6 'just because' - fun, groovy, feels like a nice succession to track5, im rly loving that I can feel the cohesion of these albums as I listen in order to(which I don't normally do) track 7 'tutti frutti' - this feels like VERY just classic Elvis, makes me wanna dance and spin, so fun track 8 'trying to get to you' - ooooo I like this, feels nice and smooth, 'when I read your loving letterrr, then my heart began to sing, there were many miles between us, but they didn't mean a thingggggg, I just had to reach you babbyyyyy in spite of all that ive been thruuuuu' I really like Elvis' love songs, feels so classic and timeless im a big fan track 9 'im gonna sit right down and cry' - love the classic Elvis twang, his voice really is quite distinct and I love it, 'im gonna tell me mama and my papa too, so they'll know exactly what IM gonna do, if you ever say goodbye if you ever even try, im gonna sit right down and cry over youuuuu' track 10 'ill never let you go (little Darlin') - 'the stars would tumble down beside me, the moon would hang its head and cry' I love some slowed down Elvis, he really can capture a sad, melancholy piece and turn around next track and have you up and dancing, sometimes even in the song, he just picked up the beat!!!! I rly respect his versatility track 11 'blue moon' - 'blue moon you saw me standing alone, without a dream in my heart, without a love of my own' omg I loveeeee this song my grandmother used to sing this to me as a child I never even realized this was Elvis wow. rly bringing me back to my childhood this is a beautiful song as well. 'you knew just what I was there for, you herd me saying a prayer for, someone I really could care forrrr' track 12 'money honey' - OHHHH DSAMNNNN this is a good one ' you know the landlord rang my front door bell, I let it ring for a long long spell, I went to the window, I peeped thru the blind, and asked him to tell me what was on his mind he said, moneyyy honey' perfect finish to the album in my opinion, closes out all the romantic songs and upbeat dance tracks with a groovy beat about money!!!!! pretty genius tbh OVERALL: not the most nuanced lyricism but feels fun and dance worthy and on the flip side rly captures a melancholic lover, this is an amazing album and I recognized a couple favs that had me getting nostalgic!!! also must've been something completely different in its time, wish I could've been around for that

ok I already loveeee the instrumentals that guitar is BANGINNNNNNN track 1 'teen age riot' - loving this already, feels like a song I would've loved in my freshman year of high school lolllll, 'teenage riot in a public station, gonna fight and tear it up in a hypernatkion for youuuuu' I do rly love this tho 'cause its getting kind of quiet in my city ahead, it takes a teenage riot to get me out of bed right nowwww' in fact I just checked and its in one of my fall playlists from early high school 'so who's to blame for the stormy weather, you're never gonna stop all the teenage leather and cooze' wtf is booze idk but banger, this will def be revisited this fall during the school year track 2 'silver rocket' - ok intense guitar, very angsty, again giving my high school days, some screaming going on midway interesting, 'the sending the bending the ampisphere re-entry, you gotta have the time got a letter in your hand, gotta heart injection that u got yourself a line, you got it u ride the silver rocket, cant stop it burnin a hole in ur pocket' I like it not my fav song but its good and Im rly into the guitar track 3 'the sprawl' - I love the woman's voice speaking in the beggining not sure if she was the one in previous tracks but she's cool as hell 'to the extend that I wear skirts and cheap nylon slips. ive gone native I wanted to know the exact dimension of hell does that sound simple? fuck you are you for sale? does fuck you sound simple enough? this was the only part that turned me on' I loveeee this woman who is sheeeeeeee??!!!!! her voice is so satisfying, long long instrumental after lyrics have come to a close but super beautiful guitar, messy, eerie, and super cool track 4 'cross the breeze' - guitar does feel intentionally off key in some places which throws you off until you heard the lyrics and feel it all come together, long intro in here already feels like they're telling a story or at least half of it before anyone even speaks, its passionate and loud, 'lets go walking in water now you think im satans daughter, I wanna know, please let me go! just too quick, now I think im gonna be sick' love the guitar in the last minute, feels angsty and almost pleading idk, fades out nice and slow track 5 'Erics trip' - 'sometimes I speak, tonight there's nothing to say, sometimes we freak and laugh all day' this ones intense 'my cup is full and I feel okay, the world is dull but not today, she thinks she's a goddess, she says she talks to the spirits, I wonder If she can talk to herself if she can bear to hear it' 'we tore down the world we put up four walls I breathe in the myth, im over the city, fucking the future, im high inside your kiss' track 6 'total trash' - oooo I love this music, guitar is groovyyyy, 'it start at the top now its spiralling down, works best when its lost' ITS TOTALLLLL TRASHHHH im not no cow LOLLL I like this one 'cant take it away cant kill all the shame' might be one of my favs on the album so far track 7 'hey joni' - 'hey Joni put it all behind you, hey Joni ive put it all behind me too, these times cant add up, your life is such a mess, forget the past and just say yes!!!!' well done song, probably not my fav if im being honest track 8 'providence' - feels rainy and melancholic intro, radio-ish staticy audio, I wonder what the context is or the story behind the world, what was he looking for?? track 9 'candle' - love that guitar in the intro, 'I see a falling snowgirl walking Broadway, Turns the corner at 14th and I know there's no way, It's alright, it's alight candle, And I know she'll be okay by Sunday' its messy but everything feels intentional, like there's a method to the madness track 10 'rain king' - angsty, not much to say not my fav, very interesting lyrically just not my cup of tea sound wise track 11 'kissability' - ok love the title of this one!!!!! high hopes! okkk starts off with some cool ass guitar 'look into my eyes don't you trust me, you're so good you could go far, ill put you in a movie don't you wanna you could be a star' the vocalist reminds me of hole is that crazy, I like this it feels very female rage angst-esque YOUVE GOT KISSABILITY U COULD BE A STAR IT AINT HARD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! love the lyrics love the messy guitar feels very cool track 12 'A) the wonder' - instrumentals are so messy and layered I rly like it, the lyrics don't rly speak to me here though track 13 'B) hyperstation' - smooth transition between the last track and this one, 'falling out of sleep I hit the floor, put on some rock tee and im out with the door' 'day dreaming days in a daydream nation, smashed up against a car at 3am' love that they hit the album title in the last few tracks, feels full circle track 14 'Z) eliminator jr.' - ooo this track is sending the album out with a banggggggg, strong guitar, driving rhythms, 'a poor boy, a rich boy, a poor rich boy coming right thru me!!!!' loveeeee this guitar and the vocals are strong and squeaky and raw OVERALL: layered messy guitar super cool, the instrumentals rly tell the story here, this feels like something I wouldve listened to and LOVED in high school and middle school, doesn't resonate as much now but I definitely enjoyed the listen and will be revisiting a few tracks, I do think I'd resonate more with a different sonic youth album, ive heard bits and peices of other records and feel this one just might note been MY one

track 1 love song - starts off pretty intense, guitar, drums, bass, JUST FOR UUUUU HERES A LOVE SONG and it makes me glad to say its been a lovely day and its okayyy, Im digging it, equal parts intensity, speed, there's a melody buried underneath the noise and intensity. unlike anything ive ever heard honestly, will take a relisten soon to let it sink in track 2 machine gun etiquette - feels almost off beat, like the tempo and music is trying to outrun the lyrics, it makes me a little uneasy but I think it could grow on me and work for me depending on my mood, its not my everyday kind of music, lyrics so far are very repetitive, seems they make their point quick and drive it home with the music track 3 I just cant be happy today - 'a lot of you know there's nothing to smile, there's no feeling fine without being fined, its a price on your heard, no point being sad when justice is red' wowza I like this one a lot 'tjeure closing the schools, tjeure burning the books, the church is in ruins, the priests hang on hooks' feels poignant and political, I love when music and art is so obviously political, because it always has been 'the army's in power, the devil commands, illegal to dance, forbidden to cry, you do what you're told and never ask why' DAMNNNNNNNN they're spitting I also feel more connected to the leads vocals here, I think because its a little slowed down and we see more versatility track 4 melody lee - ok different sort of intro, piano of im not mistaken???? 'melody lee a broken man and a broken dream, it must've been a change of heart, your life was cruel they called it art' DAMN these lyrics are simple but powerful, that guitarrrrrrr is sick asf, if I was drunk hearing this live my life would probably be made, I think the context in which you perceice art or hear music rly determines the way you connect with it, the time in your life, the setting, the people around you I think thats rly being revealed to me after diving so far into the past with this project track 5 anti-pope - ''but I don't mean to pray im gonna nick a collection plate, ive got nothing against church, only people that go there and show they're plain ignorant and don't understand' I feel like rock music is so rooted in political messaging, or at least it used to be, I feel artists were much less afraid to politicize their music earlier, and now everything is so polarizing that people stray away completely, I admire it so much, especially within older rock, r&b, and punk music, it feels overt and bold 'religion doesn't mean a thing, its just another way of being right wing, I think sex films are okay, I don't dig that pope NO WAY!!!!!' track 6 these hands - there's sometjomg unique in the melody pf each track, this one feels like circusy esp after the first lyric on circus clowns, the background feels distinct, its so eerie and just an interesting listen track 7 plan 9 channel 7 - heavy intense moody guitar, drums, bass, 'she plays her mouth into a smile and offers that he stay a while, two hearts that beat as one and eyes that hardly ever saw the sun, Hollywood babbles on she lays a wreath of lilies on his grave, his flame gone along with the love he never gave' I love when lyrics tell a story like this, love the instrumentals on this one probably my fav on the album, will be revisiting!!!! track 8 noice, noise, noise - '7am on a brand new day, im gonna start it in the perfect way, put the greatest record on, I kick the dog and kick the cat, insult my mum insult my dad, scream out loud and sing along' I like this one its lotta fun, per usual insane guitar riffs track 9 looking at you - I keep revisiting the feeling that the tempo is trying to outrun the lyrics, it almost feels like a race or a fight in some places, and then it all comes together again in the guitar riffs, bringing the song , the rhythm, the story back to earth, ' I saw into the dancing crowd, felt like screaming out loud I saw you standing there, saw your long your longgg hair, opened up my eyes baby, u made me realize what I wanna do now, all I wana do now babe is look at you' track 10 liar - 'theres not a word of truth in anything that I say, I don't rly want to listen til they go away, I haven't finished and I never try, if you ask me reasons I just lie' this is a great one, interesting as fuck cool lyrics, 'I smoked your last cigarette, I say that someone else did' LOLLLLL relatable track 11 smash it up pts1&2 - longest track on the album to close out, beautiful guitar in the intro, bass you feel in your bones, smooth and groovy, 'we've been crying now for much too long, and now were gonna dance to a different song, im gonna scream and shout til my dying breath, im gonna smash it up til there's nothing left' and then instrumentals transition, get more upbeat, drums get louder, rhythm builds, I love that these songs ebb and flow musically so often, its like they just change their minds halfway thru and go with it, I love this one it feels so late 70s early 80s definitely a keeper, makes ME wanna smash it up, I wanna danceeeeee

track 1 back at the chicken shack - is that piano sounding thing an organ????? feels light and airy, and wow I LOVE saxophone if thats what that is, the drums in there soooo smooth, feels like the instrumentals are taking a stroll in the sun with an ice cream cone and a dog running alongside, ohhh DAMNNNNN every time that sax comes in im levitating like wow, unlike monk I feel like im being captivated thru the entire piece, I think the choppiness of monk had me slipping away sometimes, this is so smooth it grabs you by the hand and drags you along, also that bass line is interesting track 2 when I grow too old to dream - feels almost reminiscent, so good I had to smoke a little weed to perfect the ambiance, wow that sax is beautiful, I used to play tenor sax and this is amazing, definitely will be playing this for my mom, could also see myself studying while listening to this, or drinking some wine, just so groovy, feels like looking back on your life integrity vs despair Erickson!!!!! #psych track 3 minor chant - lot more drums in here, loving it, this album is beautiful track 4 messy bessie -
