Parsley, Sage, Rosemary And Thyme by Simon & Garfunkel
Aug 10 2026

1) I love the harmonies and the voices that blend well together. It feels like a song that would be sung at a church service. I’m not sure if I like that. 2) I love the Arabic guitar melody and the little vocal effects. It gives the song a very specific vibe. The song does, however, keep chugging along at the same pace, so there isn’t really a clear climax. 3) I like what sounds like a backing choir. The lyrics fit the soft music very well. The song lacks an emotional climax, again. However, with this song, I feel like it’s less necessary because of the very beautiful calm vibe and choir. 4) What a beautiful chord progression! The harmony is again very good and fits the melody and his voice very well. The chorus gives an energy that couldn’t be found on some other previous songs. 5) I was surprised by the more up tempo drums, nice! It’s a fun, feel good song but lacks a smarty bit of depth. Although, it nice to just vibe on which is sometimes as good as a lyrically interesting and intelligent song. I love the transition to the chorus with the build-up. 6) A beautiful guitar intro! The melody is beautiful and the intimidating recording technique gives the song an extra layer. Again, I don’t hear a clear climax. Maybe that’s due to the short length of the song (1;58). 7) Again, good guitar work and a beautiful melody. The build-up in the first verse is very emotional and intimate. The orchestration works soo well. In this song, I feel the depth and energy climax I was looking for in ten whole album! Favourite song so far! 8) The tempo of the song draws you right into the story, along with the beautiful melody and orchestration! I can hear a deeply emotional chorus with lovely lyrics and metaphors. Along side the previous song, my favourite! 9) This is clearly Bob Dylan inspired (in his rock era)! It sounds good but I won’t really come back to it because it keeps sounding kind of the same. A bit like a Bob Dylan rip-off! 10) The melody in the verse really moves me. And even so there is no magnificent climax, the melody (especially) is enough to get you emotional while listening! Good song! 11) The lyrics are poetic and storytelling, which I like! The melody and instrumentation don’t give anything special in my eyes. 12) This is a cover but it’s very well composed with the news on the background (on the end slightly to the foreground) gives it an extra very beautiful element. The intimacy of the voices and the harmony makes it so beautiful. A great ending!

Lady Soul by Aretha Franklin
Aug 11 2026

I immediately get in a nice soul vibe in the first song! Het voice gets you from the first seconds. The album represents girlpower, for example in the songs chains of fools, good as me as I am to you and money won’t change you. In my eyes, they talk about the independence of the women in that time. The instrumentation is sooo great! I love the trumpets and jazzy guitar fragments, they seem to tell a story! The gospel choir fits her voice and the songs! Her voice on its own is actually already enough to make the song impressive! Especially the song ‘people get ready’ or ‘Good to me as I am to you’ is a great example of this. You could actually give almost every song as an example hahah. Also the instruments of course! However, I am not immediately enchanted by some tracks it but still are convincing enough. A lot of the songs are also just very fun and good to dance with, I can already imagine the people back then doing it. The instruments go from guitars, to violins, to trumpets, to tubas (which sounds very good on Natural Women). So the album is surely not boring. What sticks with me after listening is the feminism she puts into her songs. In might be indirect but I don’t think it was easy to express individualism as a woman back then! I’ll remember her voice and the amazing soul, jazzy instrumentation! It is also fun a I want to dance on so much songs! Favourite song: Since You’ve Been Gone

Hail To the Thief by Radiohead
Aug 12 2026

I like the blend between rock and electronic sounds. Some parts of songs are really emotionally loaded but some songs just are a bit boring to me. I think that’s because the genre is not really my thing but also that it’s a very layered album you need to listen to more than once. His voice fits the songs really well.

Wow! That intro immediately grabs me into their world. It sounds kinda weird but it fits soo well and that’s why i love it. The instrument choices are very interesting so that keeps your attention! The lyrics are very honest and relatable. The songs explore really interesting and deep topics and situations! A downside: some songs are lacking some emotional and beautiful melody's. That really impacts my excitement about the songs which is a pity. But i also think you need to listen this album more than once to really feel the music. But after a first listen, after a few songs with the cool instrumentation and atmosphere it becomes a bit boring. There is no variety in the tempo’s and instruments. And as I said, the melody is not always that good…
